What is a Workspace?

Central Desktop users group their business activities into Workspaces.

A Workspace is a website where teams come together and share information. Rather than emailing project and team information to everybody, Central Desktop users share files, coordinate tasks, manage documents and discuss topics inside of a Workspace.

Depending on your business needs, Central Desktop provides three types of Workspaces:

Team Workspace

A Team Workspace is a microsite created by any Central Desktop user. The user that created the Workspace is the owner and administrator of the Workspace. The Team Workspace Owner/Administrator can invite other members to the Workspace and controls their permission rights. The Team Workspace Owner/Admin sets the permission levels for each member and decides whether or not each member can Read, Edit, Add or Delete information in the Workspace.

Company Workspace

Company Workspaces are for businesses that desire additional security (SSL Encryption) and want the ownership of the Workspace to reside with Company (as opposed to the individual user in the Team Workspace). Company Workspaces ensure that the content and intellectual property created within the workspace stay with the company, even if an employee leaves the company.

Public Workspace

A Public Workspace is an ungated Workspace that is available to anyone on the web. There is no username or password required for users to access the Public Workspace.

Public Workspaces are used to Post Newsletters, Announce Events, Launch a Product or Create a Customer Portal.

What is the difference between an Internal and an External Member?

Subscribers to Company Plan 3 or higher have the ability to maintain a list of "Internal Members" and can also invite "External Members" into a Workspace.

Internal Members are users who are usually employed by your company or organization. Depending on the Company Plan that you subscribe to will determine the maximum number of Internal Members that you can maintain at a time.

External Members are users who are not employed by your company or organization, such as Clients, Partners, Vendors or Consultants. Depending on the Company Plan that you subscribe to will determine the maximum number of External Members that you can invite into a Workspace.

Team Plan Subscribers do not have the ability to differentiate between "Internal" or "External" Members. Team Plan subscribers are simply limited by the "Maximum # of Members Per Workspace."

How do you calculate the "Number of Members Per Workspace?"

The "Number of Members" is calculated on a PER WORKSPACE basis and depends on which plan you subscribe to.

For Team Plan subscribers, the Workspace Member Maximum is calculated by the TOTAL number of Members in the Workspace. For example, if you are subscribed to Team Plan 1, you are allowed to invite up to 10 Members into EACH Workspace (up to 3 Workspaces) for a total of 30 Members.

Company Plan subscribers can maintain a master list of Internal Members and can also invite External Members into each Workspace. For example, if you are subscribed to Company Plan 3, you are allowed to invite all of your Internal Members (25 Members) plus up to 25 External Members into EACH Workspace.
