Two Friends Productions presents Pretty Witty Nell This is a one-woman play about the life of Nell Gwyn, the mistress of Charles II.
Sunday 30 March at 3.00 pm (The play lasts 80 minutes including interval)
“Two Friends” have performed twice before at the Barn: Postcards from Maupassant, and Two Sisters. Those who saw them will know how accomplished the performers are. With the king on his death bed and creditors knocking at her door, Nell recalls her radiant life. Born in the gutter, by sheer force of wit and charm she became the most glittering and best loved character of her day. Surviving the plague, the pox, and the great fire, she was adored by Pepys and the people of London. Her life with King Charles lasted 18 turbulent years, and the last words she spoke were of him.
